Home: Schools and Education Group Visits: Primary Schools

Although the staff at the Centre are willing to develop specific visit programmes to meet your needs two standard programmes have been pre-designed. They both last for 2 hours, generally divided into one hour in the Museum and Education Centre and one hour on the gorge activity that includes the cave experience.

Programme 1
Designed for younger children (Year 2 and Year 3), this option includes dramatised storytelling inside Robin Hood Cave, hands on activities in the Activities room, exhibition worksheets and the video in the audio-visual room. This package is designed to spark the imagination of younger children and give them a sense of what life was like in the Ice Age.

Programme 2
Designed for older children (Year 4 - Year 6), this option includes a cave tour which explores the world of the Ice Age Hunters, how they lived and how they survived. The subject of archaeology is explained through hands on activities and exhibition worksheets supported by the video in the audio-visual room.
