Home: Things to do at Creswell Crags: Museum and Education Centre
Museum and Education Centre
The Museum and Education Centre is set in a small woodland at the eastern end of the Creswell Crags gorge.

bullet point Take a look at the Museum exhibition "The Age of Ice" which tells the story of human and animal survival in the harsh climate of the last Ice Age more than 10,000 years ago

bullet point Relax in the audio-visual theatre and watch the video "Edge of Extinction" to get a prehistoric picture of Creswell Crags and the archaeological digs which have taken place here. The video runs for about 10 minutes

bullet point Visit the Activity room for some "hands on" fun. Two touch screen computers allow visitors to find out what it takes to be a successful Ice Age hunter as well as developing your archaeological excavation skills. Alternatively, go on a virtual cave tour around Robin Hood Cave. Replica fossil skulls can be handled and examined to really feel the difference between a Neanderthal and us. Younger visitors can enjoy stone rubbing or picture colouring.
