    Return to Mother Grundy's Parlour

Mother Grundy's Parlour at Creswell Crags

One of Creswell gorge's famous caves will be the scene of a new excavation this summer.  Students from Durham University will be digging in the spoil heap outside Mother Grundy's Parlour from 4 July to 16 July, working through material removed from the actual cave by Victorian archaeologists.

On Saturday 9 July there will be a rare chance to hear Professor Paul Pettitt and Dr Alistair Pike talk at the Visitor Centre about what this latest excavation has revealed.  This talk starts at 1.30pm and tickets are just £3 (bookable on 01909 720378).  At 12 noon and 3pm there will be free guided tours of the excavation site.
