Fieldwork drawings of sediment in Church Hole by J.M.Mello and W.B.Dawkins in 1876.
This series of schematic cross sections was drawn by Magens Mello and Boyd Dawkins in 1876. They show the deposits encountered while excavating in Church Hole. These sections were later used to draw a longitudinal profile which was published in 1877. They provide only a simplistic impression of what must have been a complex series of deposits probably spanning some 60,000 years and in contrast to standards in practice today would be considered an inadequate record.
