Access and Facilities

  • Wheelchair and Pushchair Users

All of the areas within the Museum are accessible for wheelchair users and people with pushchairs. There is a lift between floors, which is located next to the main staircase.

Unfortunately the caves are not suitable for wheelchairs, however, the gorge is fully accessible with well-surfaced paths.

  • Disabled and Family Parking
There are a number of designated disabled and family parking bays in front of the entrance to the Museum. Blue badge holders are not expected to pay the parking charge.
  • Toilets

Public toilets, including accessible facilities, are available on the Upper Floor next to Reception and on the Lower Floor next to the main staircase.

Baby-change facilities are available at the toilets by Reception.

  • Mobility Scooter

A battery powered scooter is available as part of Chesterfield shopmobility scheme. If you are not a member you can register at the Museum and take 'Rundle' for a trundle around the whole site. The scooter can be booked in advance, by telephoning the Museum on 01909 720378.

This service is free of charge.

  • Dogs

Dogs are welcome on site at Creswell Crags, but we ask that all dogs are kept on leads. Please be aware that there are no dog bins on site. Dogs are not permitted within the museum building, however they can be taken onto the coffee shop balcony.

Assistance dogs are welcome in all parts of the Museum and site.

  • Induction Loops
The Musuem has induction loops fitted in all public areas.
  • Photography
Unless otherwise stated, photography is permitted in all caves and galleries. Images/recordings should be for private use only.
  • Picnic Area

Crags Meadow is the perfect place to enjoy a picnic. A number of picnic tables, including wheelchair accessible tables, are situated in the shady side of the meadow, near to the pagoda.

Please remember to take all litter away with you, as we do not have bins on site.
