Creswell Crags as it may have looked at 120,000, 50,000 and 12,000 years ago.
If you were able to travel back in time to the Ice Age, Creswell Crags would have looked different at different times. The variety of plants you would see, growing in the gorge and on the surrounding landscape, would change as the climate shifted between warm and cold periods. The variety of animals also changed both with the climate and with the seasons. People only visited the gorge and camped in the caves at specific times.

These pictures provide just one interpretation of how Creswell Crags may have looked at different times based on the archaeological and environmental evidence. As new discoveries are made, these pictures will inevitably change.
