Imagine you are standing at Creswell Crags in the Ice Age…what would you have seen?

A cold and dry rocky environment with very few plants and animals

A lush green grassland with hyaena and herds of wild horse and bison

Snow and ice with herds of reindeer and mammoth

Actually all of these answers are correct!

Recreation of Creswell Crags showing how the gorge may have looked during the Ice Age

The Ice Ages began about two million years ago. From this time the climate started to swing dramatically from warm interglacials to cold glacial periods. We live in an interglacial. Climate changes have had and are still having far reaching effects on plants and animals. People must also adapt using the resources in the environment to their advantage.
