Meat
Reindeer and other herd animals like horse were an important source of meat. Meat with a high amount of fat would possibly have been chosen to carry back to the camp. After killing the animal you would probably have eaten some meat but stored the rest. Storing meat by either drying or freezing would provide food during the leaner winter months. Bringing food back to camp, cooking and sharing it between all the members of the group would be an enjoyable time when people took care of each other, shared gossip, told stories and made plans.
