Whoever excavated this chamber did not leave any notes describing what they found. This part of the cave would have been a convenient shelter and it is possible that stone tools and animal bones were uncovered when it was excavated. Let us go and look at another cave to compare the evidence.

The mass of rock down to the sandy deposits
At this point the excavators were digging through this mass of rock down to the sandy deposits towards the lower part of the cave. These surviving pockets of sediment provide a clue to the amount of material removed.
