We all know walking is good for you, can be peaceful, can be a social event, can be self-reflection time, is a great way of keeping fit and healthy (both mentally and physically), is sometimes done with man’s best friend, is sometimes done with a picnic on your back, is sometimes a long hike, is sometimes a quick stroll around the block (particularly if it’s raining!), and usually ends at a pub!
We all love walking, and the areas around Creswell Crags and North Notts are fantastic for a wide range of walking distances. From Clumber Park, to Robin Hood’s Way, to the Chesterfield Canal, there are routes for everyone of all abilities and ages.
We’re celebrating our love of walking with the kids going back to school (when you might have a bit more time to spend taking care of you!), with our dedicated walking month!
We’ve got 10% off everything to do with walking (OS maps, Splashmaps, Walking Guides and Classic Canes walking sticks) throughout September.
We’re also part of the Chesterfield Canal Walking Festival, running through September. Our very own ranger, Jim, is going to be leading two walks: one on the 16th, and one on the 23rd September. All details can be found: https://www.facebook.com/events/181497862556866/ and https://www.facebook.com/events/151642405530036/ (or on our events page on our website!
On the 23rd September, if you’re parents to a little one, we’ve also got our very own Monty Mammoth doing a toddler march around the gorge! This is a free event, and all details can be found on our events page.
Happy walking month everyone, pull those socks up, double knot your walking boots, and get out there and breathe the fresh autumnal air.
