You can make a difference.
You may not realise it but we’re a registered charity.Your visit is greatly valued and supports our work as an independent educational and conservation charity, but there are lots of other ways you can help us. For almost 30 years, our visitors have been able to experience and learn about our Ice Age ancestors and the unique site they visited.
Did you know it costs over £320,000 a year to run Creswell Crags?
We do receive a small (but essential) amount of public funding but this is rapidly decreasing; securing alternative sources of income is essential to ensure that we maintain our services. This means that we have to raise funds through tour and exhibition fees, parking, our shop and cafe and generous donations from our visitors and supporters.
Donating £5 will buy the specialist packaging materials to help us preserve our world renowned collections for future generations.
Donating £10 will buy a new billhook, which help our outdoor team when coppicing and laying hedges to ensure the correct growth pattern.
Donating £20 will buy the Educational resources we need to regularly replenish when working with young people.
Donating £50 will buy us replica items for our schools work to enable young people to better understand how objects were made and used.
Donating £100 will enable our Ranger to buy bedding plants to go around the Visitors centre and new dipping pond, which will encourage wildlife and add to the site’s incredible aesthetics.
Donating £150 will allow us to repaint and maintain our children’s play area.
For larger donations, £500 would enhance the outdoor classroom by enabling the creation of an immersive Ice Age campsite.
£1000 would allow our Ranger to have a ride-on lawnmower, making the upkeep and maintenance of the 26 acre site much easier.
Please remember we can claim Gift Aid, because we are a charity. We can claim back 25p per £1 donated to us – this can be claimed back from tours, exhibition entry, and on any donations we gratefully receive. We just need to take a few details such as name, postcode and house number, and get a signature from you. So, if you’re a UK taxpayer, don’t forget to say you wish to Gift Aid!
