Creswell Crags Closes to the Public

In response to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis, Creswell Heritage Trust has today made the difficult decision to close the visitor attraction to the public until further notice. This became effective at 5pm on Tuesday 17 March.

This decision has been taken to safeguard the health of our visitors, staff, and partners and is based on the latest government advice.

This closure means that the Visitor Centre facilities, including toilets, shop, museum, and café, will be closed. All cave tours are also cancelled from Wednesday 18 March onwards. If you have pre-booked a cave tour, we apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience caused. Anyone who has a tour booked via Groupon will be contacted by Groupon, so please check your email.

The special events programme is also suspended until further notice. This is likely to apply until at least the start of May 2020. Anyone holding a ticket booked through Eventbrite will be contacted via email and refunds offered.

Our Education Team will, this week, be contacting all schools with upcoming visits booked. These will not be able to go ahead, from Thursday 19 March onwards but we will seek to reschedule later in the year where possible.

Although the visitor attraction is closed, the gorge can be accessed via the public bridleway which runs through it. Our staff team will still be working, mostly remotely, and will be able to answer queries and share updates via our website and social media as we plan ahead for later in the year. We will also be seeking ways to stay connected with our audiences during this time, including creating new online content, and looking after our site.

This will be a challenging time for our organisation, which is an independent charity, reliant on visitor income. We would like to thank our visitors for your support throughout the year and look forward to seeing you again soon.
