Please find the latest information for visiting Creswell Crags, in the light of the new government COVID-19 restrictions. Please note, that you should check the latest government information before you travel.

YOU CAN CHECK THE RULES FOR YOUR HOME POSTCODE HERE

CRESWELL CRAGS IS CURRENTLY IN TIER 1: MEDIUM

Creswell Crags, postcode S80 3LH, is located in Bolsover district of Derbyshire. This means that our site is officially in Tier 1, risk level MEDIUM. You can find out what the rules for Tier 1 are here.

Creswell Crags is accredited by the Visit England ‘Good to Go’ scheme. This demonstrates that we have a high level of COVID-related safety at our site. Our measures include: social distancing throughout the visitor centre, a one-way system in indoor areas, regular enhanced cleaning routines, hand sanitiser throughout the building, takeaway only in the café, all touchscreens and interactive activities currently out of use, cave tours only available by pre–booking online for household/bubble groups, taking of track and trace details, contactless payment available for the car park, shop and café, and face coverings worn by all staff and visitors in the building and on cave tours.

We have a large outdoor site where social distancing is very easy. You do not need to enter the Visitor Centre during your visit, if you are visiting just to go for a walk. When you do enter the Visitor Centre, please do so by the main entrance from the car park, where you will be greeted by a member of staff who will take track and trace information and advise you on finding your way around the site.

You do not need to book to park, to visit our museum, or to take part in our Halloween Bat Trail. However, we do monitor capacity and, if it is busy, there is a chance of a longer waiting time than usual.

You must book in advance, online, to visit for a cave tour. These are for family/household groups of up to 6 people only and you will be required to wear a face covering unless you are exempt, and practice social distancing from the tour guide, who will wear a face shield.

You must not meet up at Creswell Crags, even outdoors, with more than 6 people. We are legally required to enforce this rule and our charity could be fined if we do not. Therefore, staff will ask groups of more than 6 people to disperse. You must also wear a mask at all times inside the building and practice social distancing with anyone who is not part of your household or support bubble.

TIER 2: BASSETLAW, NORTH EAST DERBYSHIRE, AND OTHER NEIGHBOURING AREAS

We are very aware that Bolsover has borders with areas which are in Tier 2, HIGH, including Bassetlaw. Geographically, some of our site is located in Bassetlaw which is in Nottinghamshire. If you are travelling to visit us from a Tier 2 area, please obey the government restrictions for Tier 2, which you can find here.

LOCAL TIER 3 RESTRICTIONS: SOUTH YORKSHIRE (potentially parts of Nottinghamshire from 26 October)

Many of our visitors travel from South Yorkshire, including Sheffield, and Nottinghamshire, including the city. South Yorkshire is now in Tier 3 – VERY HIGH – and there is a strong likelihood that Nottingham and some of the county will also be in Tier 3 soon. IF YOU LIVE IN A TIER 3 AREA YOU MUST OBEY THE RULES FOR TIER 3. THIS INCLUDES NON-ESSENTIAL TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF YOU AREA. YOU ARE ALSO NOT PERMITTED TO MEET UP WITH PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSEHOLD, EVEN OUTDOORS.

IF YOU LIVE IN A TIER 3 AREA AND YOU HAVE BOOKED A CAVE TOUR, WE ARE PREPARED TO OFFER A REFUND. IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES PLEASE EMAIL US: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
